CGLA Welcomes Alison Caverly to its Board of Directors

Cabrini Green Legal Aid is excited to announce the addition of Alison Caverly as a new Board of Directors Member

"Any brush with our imperfect criminal legal system can have a tremendous long-term impact on a person's family, career prospects and quality of life. I am passionate about CGLA because CGLA works tirelessly not only to help low-income individuals break through barriers to achieve their personal and professional goals, but also to strengthen our communities and advocate for a more just criminal legal system."

Alison serves as an in-house Commercial Counsel at Illinois Tool Works (ITW), where she handles commercial legal matters relating to two of ITW’s business segments. Prior to joining ITW, Alison began her legal career in the Corporate group at Dentons, following which she spent four years in the M&A group at Jones Day assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions and other complex corporate and commercial transactional matters. Alison holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology Modified with Economics from Dartmouth College and a JD degree from Northwestern University. Alison's involvement with CGLA started in 2015, when she began assisting clients with clemency petitions as a pro bono attorney at Dentons. Alison joined CGLA's Young Professionals Board soon after and most recently served as co-chair of the Young Professional Board.

CGLA was established in 1973 to serve legal needs arising from the lack of opportunity, criminalization of poverty, and racial inequity experienced within the Cabrini Green community. Since then, CGLA has grown beyond a single neighborhood to become a citywide, countywide, and now recognized statewide leader in supporting low-income individuals negatively impacted by the criminal justice system.
