CGLA September 2013 Newsletter

It’s official! Governor Quinn signed HB 3061 on Friday, August 2, making the expanded sealing bill law effective January 1, 2014.

Now, individuals who have qualifying Class 3 and 4 convictions for theft, retail theft, deceptive practice, forgery and some drug offenses will be eligible to have their records sealed, so they appear to never have been convicted. This is great news for our clients and for others looking to have a second chance from a past criminal record!
